Project sheet
The project involved the restoration of a listed school building.

The work included the complete restoration of the building's exterior and interior.

The building was also fitted with a complete ventilation system with mechanical air supply and extraction as well as heat recovery.

Fire safety was improved by compartmentalising the building, providing fire detection and notification, and installing a smoke hatch in the stairwell.

Acoustics were greatly improved by installing a flat acoustic absorbent ceiling on the first floor and acoustic elements on the ground floor.

All these modifications were provided in close consultation with the Heritage Department in order to preserve the building's heritage value.

During the restoration, certain authentic elements were preserved and the joinery was replaced by joinery based on a historical model.

To determine the colours, the necessary stratigraphic studies were included in the dossier.

The reason for this restoration was a strong infestation of woodboring insects in the roof structure, which meant that the school building could no longer be used in complete safety.
