An outdated building on the site of VKO Opwijk needs to be demolished.
The new building will provide 6 classrooms, the teacher's room, meeting and conference rooms and the necessary sanitary facilities.
Due to a shortage of sports fields and sports rooms on the school site, part of the roof will be converted into a sports roof.
As the new building is located opposite a building (Block D) that was part of the Monastery of the Sisters of Saint Vincent de Paul, which is listed as architectural heritage, the new design opts for a contemporary architecture, but with a nod to the existing heritage.
This is achieved by:
- receding bays
- red brick
- different masonry connections
- visible lintels
- white windows
